A globalized and interdependent world, featuring growing movements of individuals, populations and goods (where diseases do not stop at borders), means that health is an international issue. Thus, when considering our planet, health is determined by factors such as climatic change, resource depletion, pollution, international trade, conflicts and poverty. Our responsibility as physicians and scientists consists in using globalization to improve people’s health throughout the world.
